🜁 Brain Waves & Hypnotherapy: What’s Going On in Your Mind?
Ever wonder what actually changes when you're in a hypnotic state?
Let’s talk about brain waves.
Your brain is electric — it constantly sends out signals at different frequencies. These are called brain waves, and each one creates a different mental and emotional state.
✦ 1. Beta (13–30 Hz): The Thinking Mind
This is your daily state: alert, analytical, busy.
You’re planning, problem-solving, scrolling, worrying.
Most of us live here… and get stuck here.
Too much Beta can lead to stress, anxiety, overthinking, and burnout.
✦ 2. Alpha (8–12 Hz): The Gateway
Alpha is a calm, relaxed state — like when you're meditating, daydreaming, or watching the ocean.
This is the doorway to the subconscious.
In hypnotherapy, we ease the brain from Beta into Alpha. The inner critic quiets, and you begin to access the deeper parts of yourself.
✦ 3. Theta (4–8 Hz): The Hypnotic State
This is where the magic happens.
Theta is where deep emotional healing, visualization, and subconscious reprogramming occur.
You might feel dreamy, floaty, emotional, or like you're half-awake, half-asleep.
Children under 7 live mostly in Theta — which is why they absorb everything like a sponge.
In hypnotherapy, we return to this state to update the beliefs you picked up before you could question them.
✦ 4. Delta (0.5–4 Hz): The Deepest Rest
Delta is deep, dreamless sleep.
Your body heals. Your nervous system resets.
Some advanced hypnotherapy or sound healing may touch this frequency, but it’s mostly for physical restoration.
✦ 5. Gamma (30–100 Hz): The Peak State
Gamma is less talked about, but it’s associated with insight, intuition, and expanded consciousness.
Monks in meditation often reach Gamma.
While it’s not a target in hypnotherapy, it’s a powerful reminder that your mind is capable of incredible clarity.
Why Does This Matter?
Because real change doesn’t happen when you’re tense, analytical, and trying to figure everything out.
It happens when you soften.
Hypnotherapy guides you into Alpha and Theta — the natural healing states your mind already knows how to access.
This is not about control.
It’s about creating the conditions where your inner world can finally speak — and be heard.
